"Frozen" Hot Chocolate (Chocolate Quente Inspirado no Filme "Frozen")

"Frozen" Hot Chocolate (Chocolate Quente Inspirado no Filme "Frozen")

Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri

Virgin Strawberry Daiquiri

The perfect drink for a hot summer day, a virgin daiquiri (strawberry or whatever fruit suits your fancy) is tangy and thirst-quenching. Plus, because it's fruit-flavored and blended, you're less likely to notice the missing alcohol. Go for fresh strawberries over frozen; the flavor will be much better.

Ingredients:
1 ounce fresh lime juice
3 ounces frozen strawberries in syrup (or fresh, if available)
1 teaspoon sugar
Cracked ice

Preparation:
Fill a blender with cracked ice. Add lime juice, strawberries, and sugar. Blend until smooth, then pour into a chilled glass. Garnish with an extra strawberry (if you have one) or an orange slice.

Pina Colada

Piña Colada

Another summer classic, the piña colada, is cool and refreshing. With its smoothie-like consistency, it can be gentler on a mom-to-be's stomach than other, more lively concoctions.

Of course, if citrus fruits — with their acidic qualities — have been playing havoc with your digestion, you may want something even milder. Although pineapple isn't technically part of the citrus family, its juice, like that of the orange, lime, or lemon, can be quite tart. For a sweeter, less tangy drink, use pineapple canned in syrup rather than its own juice.

Ingredients:
2 ounces coconut milk
1½ ounces crushed pineapple
1 ounce pineapple juice
1/4 cup crushed ice
Brown sugar to taste (no more than one tablespoon)

Preparation:
Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth (about 30 seconds). Pour into chilled glass. Garnish with an orange slice, a pineapple wedge, or a maraschino cherry.

Banana's banana's What to do with all these banana's

I was able to get a bunch of free banana's after an event on the 4th of July.
Now they are starting to brown. Sadness starts to come, oh banana's please don't go brown...not yet.

We do love banana milk shakes & I do love banana bread. But there must be more yummy healthy amazing foods I could make with these banana's.

The benefits of banana's? As you may have seen on a previous post they are a great fruit.
Bananas
Protects your heart
Quiets a cough
Strengthens bones
Controls blood pressure
Blocks diarrhea
What else does this help with?  Bananas Provide Energy, Potassium is Vital for Performance, Bananas Can Lift Your Spirits, (good one for ladies) Eat a Banana during Your Monthly Visitor, Increase Your Brain Power with Bananas, Bananas are Great for Pregnant Women, Bananas Help Soothe Ulcers & Bananas are Rich in Iron...
Wow now that we have learned more about the banana lets see some new recipes.

Banana Pancakes I
Prep Time: 5 Min
Cook Time: 10 Min
Ready In: 15 Min

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed

Directions

  1. Combine flour, white sugar, baking powder and salt. In a separate bowl, mix together egg, milk, vegetable oil and bananas.
  2. Stir flour mixture into banana mixture; batter will be slightly lumpy.
  3. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Cook until pancakes are golden brown on both sides; serve hot.

MY Banana milk shake:
One that I always make is the milk shake I don't measer this I just throw it all in the blender.
What ever banana's need to be eaten the most 2 or 3
Milk we get 2% a few cups
Sometimes Vanilla Ice Cream a couple spoons (I don't do this so much any more if thinking healthy)
If I have strawberries or blue berries I throw some in. (all berries are great for you!)
The way I measure it is how much I know will fit in to the glasses that will be used. I eye ball it....

Blend it up & enjoy.

I hope that makes sense.

I love receips & I have a hard time not using one but this its a peice of cake you throw in what you know you like & blend.
Also I have added wheat germ for the benefits... it gave a slight nutty taste & is good for you.

Cinnamon Vanilla Berry Water

Cinnamon Vanilla Berry Water

Ingredients:

300mL cold water (The use of soft water is preferable, i.e. low in calcium and
minerals, as any water high in calcium can increase the rate of oxidation of the
ingredients, thus altering the flavor and the aroma. Therefore, it would be good to
use water typically to make green tea or sake in the Japanese tradition.)

20g dried or fresh blueberry
20g dried or fresh cranberry
3 sticks of vanilla
1 cinnamon stick
2-3g of brown sugar (optional)

Procedure:

Put all ingredients together in a pan. Dr./Chef recommends using a pan that
allows just enough space for the combined ingredients for evaporation, for
example, a small 400mL capacity pot. If you are using dried berries, it is
preferable to let them sit in water a few hours prior. If you are using fresh berries,
this is not necessary. Bring to a boil and then turn the heat off, leaving it above
the stovetop range, and cover it. Keep covered for at least 30 minutes to trap the
aromatic and gustatory elements. Strain the water and let cool. Conserve in the
refrigerator at approximately 46°-47° F.

Serve no more than 40-50mL in each glass.

It’s preferable to have “seconds” of this quantity various times than to pour a
glass surpassing this quantity.

Facts about Sports Drinks....

One Monday I went to the gym had a food, body analysis & a fitness test.
To say the least I have a lot to work on when it comes to eating healthier.
As I am sure you are all aware of chips are out. French fries my vise should only be eaten at lunch or earlier so your body has time to burn it off. Dinner should be protein & veggies.
I commented on Sports Drinks he said to not drink it later in the day and you should go with the no sugar or the less calories kind. Crap! I don't like the low kind splenda is not my friend. I found this article that backs up his comment:
Dietitian Pet Peeve: Thinking Vitamin Drinks and Sports Drinks Are Healthy:

Soda takes a lot of heat from nutritionists as a major culprit in weight gain—one 12-ounce can of regular pop contains 8 teaspoons of sugar and 130 calories—but there’s also a war against other liquid calorie culprits. Gatorade and Vitamin Water might sound healthy, but a 20-ounce bottle of either thirst quencher still exceeds your daily sugar allowance.

The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends women shouldn’t consume more than 6.5 teaspoons of added sugar daily; men should consume a maximum of 9 teaspoons. Sports beverages like Vitamin Water pack 13 g of sugar per 8-ounce serving, or 33 g and 125 calories in a 20-ounce bottle. (One teaspoon equals 4 g, which means 33 g is 8.25 teaspoons of sugar.) Even worse, marketing campaigns convince consumers these sugar-laden beverages are healthy drinks.

Various studies suggest ingesting the extra sugar from sweetened beverages increases your risk of developing chronic diseases such as diabetes and heart disease. “You probably unsuspectingly consume 22 to 30 teaspoons of sugar daily, which adds up to 350 to 475 empty calories every day,” says Greaves.

Right the wrong
You don’t have to avoid sports drinks entirely—just look for the sugar-free and reduced-sugar versions, such as Gatorade’s G2 and Vitamin Water’s zero-sugar lines. At home, make your own flavored water, adding in sliced cucumber, orange, berries, lemon, or lime. (Search: How to make water taste better) Greaves says you should choose unsweetened beverages, like iced tea. Gatorade and Vitamin Water might appear to be healthy options, but these make-‘em-yourself versions eliminate excess sugar.

healthy green drink: black-melon

Black Melon

Packed with potassium and vitamin C and very refreshing (check the ingredients page to learn more about all the health benefits).
Ingredients:
■1/2 cup watermelon
■1/2 cup honeydew melon
■1/2 cantaloupe
■1/2 cup blackberries
■2 handfuls of spinach
■1 banana
■1/2 cup water
■1 cup ice

Blend it all up and serve over ice and a slice or two of fresh lemon or lime.

Fruits are packed with vitamins and minerals as well as some of the best fat we can consume (avocado and coconut). They also contain sugar (fructose) which supplies the body with much needed energy and acts as a deterrent to gorging yourself with processed sugars that can lead to obesity. Hungry? Craving a candy bar? You’re better off eating 12 apples.

Spinach: Popeye ate it. Enough said? Okay, fine. Spinach is a huge source of Vitamins C, A, K, you name it. The flavonoids in spinach help protect against age related memory loss and the lutein in the little green leaf makes it one of the best foods in the world to prevent age related macular degeneration.

Low Fat, High Flavor Snacks - sides

Low Fat, High Flavor

Certified nutritionist and author of Slim and Scrumptious Joy Bauer, shares delicious tips and recipes for creating fattening foods without sacrificing flavor.

Skinny Foods

If you're looking for creative ways to enhance your weight-loss efforts, try these diet-friendly foods that offer phenomenal calorie bargains.

Air-Popped Popcorn: One cup of air-popped popcorn without any added butter or oil has only 30 calories!

Water Chestnuts: Sliced water chestnuts have a super satisfying crunchy texture a lot of dieters crave after giving up potato chips and other snack foods. You can munch your way through a whole can for just 50 calories.

Salsa: With less than 20 calories per 1/4 cup, salsa is a dieter's best friend. Bottled or fresh, salsa makes a terrific, low-cal dip for crunchy veggies, like baby carrots and celery sticks. It's also the perfect diet-friendly condiment for sandwiches, burgers and baked potatoes -- use it as a flavorful replacement for mayo, sour cream, butter and other fattening toppers.

Grape Tomatoes: One cup of grape tomatoes clocks in at only 30 calories. These bite-sized nibbles are sweet, colorful and ideal for snacking since you can pop them in your mouth one at a time.

Plain Nonfat Greek Yogurt: A 6-ounce container of plain nonfat Greek yogurt has around 100 calories and 15 to 18 filling grams of protein, which ismore than double the protein content of traditional nonfat yogurt. Jazz up plain yogurt with chopped fruit, vanilla extract or a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.

Atomic Fireballs
: Yes, it may be ironic to see a nutritionist touting a nutrient-less sugar bomb, but these fiery treats are the best calorie value in candy! One extra-large fireball has just 40 calories and will last for a long time because it's rock-hard, so you can't just chomp through it like you can with other hard candies. Plus, their intense heat curbs your urge to snack on other foods.

Naturally-Flavored Seltzer: Naturally-flavored seltzer is simply carbonated water with a shot of fruit flavor. It doesn't contain sugar, artificial sweeteners, food dyes or anything else! It's completely calorie-free, fizzes like soda and comes in flavors like lime, orange, pomegranate, vanilla and white chocolate.

Egg Whites:
Egg whites are pure, high-quality protein and just 17 calories each, which makes them the ideal ingredient for a low-cal breakfast with high-fill power.

Vegetable Soup: Studies have shown that by starting a meal with a fiber-rich bowl of broth-based vegetable soup, you can reduce your total meal calorie intake by 20 percent. The soup takes the edge off your hunger and fills you up quickly, so you end up eating less of your main entrée.

Everyday Organic: Smooth move with a base of bananas

Everyday Organic: Smooth move with a base of bananas
By MaryJane Butters Published: May 26, 2011

I’m sure you know that old trick about freezing bananas that have seen better days. You hold onto them until the banana-bread bug bites and then embark on a marathon baking session.
Well, I’m a devotee of this method — it’s as if the freezer performs magic, transforming fruit that looks too ripe to touch into an exotic delicacy.

But bread isn’t the only thing that frozen bananas are good for. It makes an excellent any-smoothie base because it produces a rich, creamy texture that’s just like ice cream — but better.
Smoothies are a great way to boost your nutritional intake and still feel like you’re getting away with something. Liquids are easier to digest and frequently more appetizing than solid food when you’re rushed, sick, pregnant or just plain bored.

So grab your blender and let’s get started.
Drop in that banana, then add some frozen fruit. Berries, stone fruits, grapes, citrus and tropical fruit all contribute a tart, punchy kick that’s as intense and colorful as candy.
Now for the vegetables.
Yep, that’s right. Smoothies are a great way to use the fresh or frozen vegetables. It may sound scary, but don’t run screaming from the blender just yet.
Greens may have an impact on the color of your drink, but they contribute a fairly delicate flavor, especially alongside all that sweet fruit. So toss in handfuls of frozen vegetables such as peas, broccoli or spinach. Their natural sweetness will make the vitamin boost completely painless.
You can also boost nutrients in a smoothie by blending in a vitamin supplement, a scoop of wheat germ, a handful of nuts, a smear of nut butter, a chunk of fresh ginger, a drizzle of honey or maple syrup, or milled flaxseed, wheat germ or ground cinnamon.
Now pour in a little juice, water or yogurt to help it all liquefy. Then let ‘er rip.
Blend everything until smooth, and then taste a bit to see if you need to tweak the flavors or consistency.
There are no hard and fast ratios or recipes. Just experiment with what you have and what you know you like. Then get busy dreaming up your favorite, adventurous combinations.

Still feeling less than confident? Allow me to share a few of my favorite “non-recipes”:

Good morning • frozen banana, frozen peach, fresh ginger, fresh kale and apple juice.

Mid-afternoon reward • frozen banana, peanut butter, frozen peas, honey and plain yogurt.

Up before the sun • frozen strawberries, frozen pineapple concentrate, fresh carrots, orange juice and a squeeze of lemon.

Carrot cake • Frozen banana, fresh carrots, walnuts, wheat germ, cinnamon, maple syrup and plain yogurt.

Peanut butter • Frozen banana, peanut butter, frozen corn, vanilla extract and plain yogurt.

Feelin’ a little tart • Frozen blueberries, frozen broccoli (go easy) and cranberry juice.

Easy being green • frozen banana, frozen peas, frozen broccoli (go easy) and white grape juice.

Cherry pie • frozen cherries, frozen carrots, unsalted cashews, wheat germ, honey and almond milk.

Antioxidant punch • frozen strawberries, fresh spinach, almonds and pomegranate juice.

Case of the blues • frozen blueberries, frozen peas, plain yogurt and maple syrup.

Orange you pretty • frozen carrots, fresh ginger (go easy) and orange juice.
