RECIPE: Sinful French Toast
CHEF NAME: Ryan Bird and Jared Brown from Eggs in the City
INGREDIENTS:
•1 C pure maple syrup
•1/2 C. butter
•1/3 C. brown sugar
•1 tsp vanilla
•4 eggs
•1/2 C milk
•1 tsp cinnamon
•8 pieces of sourdough bread (we love Coeur D'Alene Sourdough Rounds) or use a dense bread of your choice
•2 Cups of seasonal berries
•2 bananas
DIRECTIONS:
In a small saucepan combine syrup, brown sugar, butter and vanilla. Cook on low heat stirring occasionally until blended. Pour mixture onto cookie sheet.
Break eggs into shallow bowl or pie tin, beat lightly. Stir in milK and cinnamon. Place bread slices one at a time into egg mixture then place on cookie sheet on top of syrup sauce. Leave Refrigerated over night.
Preheat skillet or griddle to medium to low heat. Coat griddle or skillet with pat of butter. Transfer bread slices onto griddle/skillet heat slowly until golden brown. Syrup sauce side should have a caramelized look to it.
Serve hot, top with fresh sliced bananas and berries sprinkled with powder sugar. Syrup and butter optional. It's great on its own.
